15 Essential Andaman Travel Tips Every Tourist Should Know

Must-Know Tips for a Smooth & Memorable Andaman Holiday

To help you travel smoothly across the islands, our local tour experts have compiled these 15 essential recommendations:

  1. Pre-Book Private Ferries: High-speed catamarans between Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil sell out weeks in advance during peak season. Pre-book through Andaman Tours.
  2. Mobile Connectivity: Airtel and BSNL have reliable 4G/5G connectivity in Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. Jio connectivity is moderate. Other networks have limited coverage.
  3. Carry Sufficient Cash: While digital UPI and cards work in Port Blair hotels and major Havelock restaurants, carry ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 cash for beach shacks, auto-rickshaws, and remote points where network signals fluctuate.
  4. Protect Corals: Do not touch, stand on, or collect live corals or sea shells. Carrying uncertified sea shells at the airport is strictly prohibited by forest laws.
  5. Early Sunrises & Sunsets: Because of Andaman\'s eastern geographical location, sunrise is around 5:00 AM and sunset occurs early between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Plan your sightseeing starting early in the morning!
  6. Pack Light Cottons & Beachwear: Light cotton clothing, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, comfortable slip-on sandals, and swimwear are ideal.
